Barwon Heads Road and Golf Links Road Pedestrian Safety Upgrades

Road works will soon begin at the roundabout at Barwon Heads Road and Golf Links Road.

Two raised pedestrian crossings will be constructed at the roundabout on the northern (Sheepwash Road) and western (Barwon Heads Road) legs of the intersection.

New footpaths to improve pedestrian connectivity will also be delivered, as well as upgraded signage, drainage and line marking to include bike lanes.

To ensure this busy intersection is safe for all road users, the new raised crossings will:

  • reduce the risk of high-severity pedestrian and bike rider crashes by installing controlled crossing points on the intersection legs most popular with foot traffic, and
  • improve pedestrian connectivity to amenities and transport links in Barwon Heads

This project is being delivered as part of the Safe System Pedestrian Infrastructure Program.

Resurfacing works on Barwon Heads Road, including the roundabout and a 500m section of road west of the intersection, will also be completed during the nightworks, commencing Sunday 15 February.

These resurfacing works will restore the condition of the road surface, and deliver a smoother and safer journey for all road users.

Please take extra care, follow changed traffic conditions, and drive to the conditions while works are underway.
