The redevelopment of the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club has reached another significant milestone, with concept design options finalised and the project continuing to gather momentum.
Last month, VIDA (Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority) held a design workshop with the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club and the project's architects to refine and confirm a preferred concept design. The workshop marked an important step towards delivering a modern, fit-for-purpose facility for lifesavers and the wider community.
Recently, VIDA also held a pre-application meeting with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) to discuss Marine and Coastal Act approvals. The meeting was an important step in progressing the project's planning and environmental approvals, helping to ensure it continues to move efficiently through the approvals process.
The redevelopment has been further strengthened by funding allocated through the Victorian Government's 2026–27 State Budget, marking another significant commitment for the project. The investment will help deliver a modern, fit-for-purpose surf lifesaving club that will support volunteers, improve community access and ensure the Club can continue to meet the needs of Point Lonsdale's growing population and increasing visitor numbers for years to come.

“The Club is delighted that significant progress is being made with VIDA to replace the dysfunctional back beach base with a modern, purpose-built facility that will support the future delivery of lifesaving services. While the main building will be located slightly further from the beach, the new small patrol tower will provide significantly improved beach observation, enhancing the Club's ability to keep beachgoers safe.
We are very grateful to the State Government for its recent additional funding to address the site's complexities in replacing this important community asset, and we look forward to seeing the project completed by the end of 2027."
