The Allan Labor Government is delivering a new, fit‑for‑purpose facility to support Point Lonsdale surf lifesavers and keep beachgoers safe.
Minister for Emergency Services Vicki Ward and Member for Bellarine Alison Marchant today announced Guymer Bailey Architects has been appointed to design the new Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club back beach rescue centre.
The Labor Government has invested $2.5 million to deliver the new back beach lifesaving facility.
The existing club will be demolished and replaced with a fit‑for‑purpose lifesaving facility, giving lifesavers a modern base for training and summer patrols.
The redevelopment is now being delivered by the Community Safety Building Authority working closely with the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club and Life Saving Victoria.
Founded in 1947, the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club has provided volunteer patrols for nearly 80 years, protecting locals and visitors along this popular stretch of coastline.
With more people visiting the coast than ever before, it’s critical that surf lifesavers have facilities that allow them to respond safely and effectively in challenging conditions.
Concept design work is now underway, with further consultation planned with the club as the project progresses.
